COVID-19 pushes Fashion Shows to a New Level

By kinkyelevatormusic staff

2020 has been weird, but the changes in the world have been a great prompt for several artists: specifically the world of fashion. Shows which are typically events to be seen at, have been converted to beautiful fashion films. See some of our favorites below

Tyler does not miss and when it comes to fashion, he always bring his buddy ASAP Rocky along. These two joined up with Iggy Pop, a bird named Biggy Pop for Gucci’s “Life of a Rock Star” campaign: the italian label’s latest men’s tailoring campaign.

Shot by Harmony Korine in L.A., these four takeover a lavish mid century mansion and exist in pure decadence. Rocky and Tyler pull up in a burnt orange Rolls-Royce dressed to the nines: Tyler in his typical grandpa flooded pants and vest and Rocky in a dapper trench and shoulder satchel. They meet Iggy, who sports a daring cheetah print suit and signature square-shaped Gucci specs. They proceed to have an epic dance party. Don’t believe us? See for yourself!

London based fashion designer Grace Wales Bonner explored the importance of the diaspora and its connection to Britain. The creative culture of Britain and particularly London is run by diaspora influences. Grace did a great job of highlighting this through the short fashion film created for her line’s Spring/Summer Collection “Essence”.

The video itself invokes a feeling of home and stability. There is a serenity of being that is in focus within the film. It s happens to be a way to market the product line. The video itself never felt like a showcase of pieces from the line. It felt more like a daily expression of what someone may be wearing within the diaspora. It showcases vibrancy, but in a subtle and down to earth manner.

Throughout the Thinkin Home short film, the Essence product line was able to blend seamlessly into the film. The music in this video is a combination of reggae, 80s dancehall, gospel and spoken word. It sets the seen well, as it has a relaxing effect on the user. This invokes the idea of home and returning to the diaspora.

This one came out two months ago, but if you haven’t seen it you must and if you have, we’re sure you wouldn’t mind watching it again. Kid Super takes the cake for creativity as he presented his latest line in mini fashion: literally on dolls.

As if this wasn’t cool enough, the “cameos” include an array of celeberties: Bernie Sanders, Salvador Dali and Travis Scott to name a few. Kid Super has always been unique, but this one truly truly blew us away. Not too shabby for his first fashion week on the schedule.

In latest news, Jeremy Scott of Moschino apparently used the same idea to present his line. In true creative fashion, Kid Super will face him in a (un)official fashion Celebrity Deathmatch judged by Anna Wintour herself. LOL. Cannot wait to see this. Debuts tonight.
