Chicago’s very own Nina Tech is back with a new ep, Pull Up, released early this month. The four-track project features the Southsider upholding her stance as a figure of dark-web, locker room, it-girl rap. “Bad Habit (Freestyle)” is an ode to cocky raps about originality and poise. The ep offers a quick lesson in bad b*tch must-haves: confidence, a lot of wit and most importantly-your own money.

Tyler does not miss and when it comes to fashion, he always bring his buddy ASAP Rocky along. These two joined up with Iggy Pop, a bird named Biggy Pop for Gucci’s “Life of a Rock Star” campaign: the italian label’s latest men’s tailoring campaign.

Shot by Harmony Korine in L.A., these four takeover a lavish mid century mansion and exist in pure decadence. Rocky and Tyler pull up in a burnt orange Rolls-Royce dressed to the nines: Tyler in his typical grandpa flooded pants and vest and Rocky in a dapper trench and shoulder satchel. The latest project from Seattle-based producer and instrumental collaborator Sango drops September 25th. Following SANGOZINHO’s timely drop as antsy millennials relocated to Tulum, Puerto Rico and other carribean hotspots to breathe life into an extended quarantine, fans are anticipating the newest release of Sango’s Da Rocinha series with Da Rocinha 4. “Kalimba Funk”, a single from the album, taps into Sango’s familiarized sounds- plenty of Brazilian vocal samples, bells and percussion that offer afrobeats as a remedy to an otherwise mundane reality as music lovers reminisce about live concerts and street festivals that once colored our daily lives. Intermittent chants, bongos and other instruments are must-haves for the producer whose creative endeavors serve as an ode to the musical background of his family. Sango frequently credits his family for exposing him to salsa music and other Latin-inspired styles of composition as a few of the main influencers of his sound. Sango is no stranger to the versatility of percussion instruments. His beats naturally provide a sensory experience similar to being on an island ridden with local artists. Sango’s popularity arises from adding trap-style drums giving the music a muddier sound. This combined with common rap-samples with quick one liners modernizes Brazilian/Cuban music making it more approachable for a mainstream market. Take “Amor Rocinha” for example- the main track is a dreamy, melodic beat made gritty when Sango adds a trap sample stating “you can’t do it like me” on loop. As a series, Da Rocinha weaves elements of everyone’s favorite genres to give us music that is robust and as genuine as the music one could find if they traced the lineage of Brazilian afrobeats culture. Sango, an artist under the Soulection collective, remains a dynamic, ever-evolving producer on the beat-making scene as he intertwines the cultural influences of the Afrobeats community with everyone’s favorite tropes of trap music.

Playful in small dosages is the best way to describe Amine as an artist. He makes super energetic and fun songs consistently. This song is titled Hello. I feel this song was made strictly for Tik Tok. It has that other wordly alien vibe to it. It just doesn’t make sense lol, but in a good way. The song is 1:54 seconds in total. It has a very pop flavor to it production wise.

Dark sounds and hard sliding 808s are always a classic sound in UK Drill. This song by 23Unofficial gives us that vibe easily. From the start of this track it felt epic and ready for a grand entrance. The piano riff to start the song with the intro was great. The bass drop was sudden and it smacked at the right time to make a good drill song. 23Unofficial did a good job of riding the powerful beat. He had a nice relaxed cadence and consistent rhyme patterns and flows within this song.

Shenseea is an international dancehall star that has been on the rise for a while in Jamaica. Her song, Sure Sure, has just recently dropped visuals. It is a great summer song to dance to. She definitely has refined her sound for a while and it has been fun to see her rise, but Americans may not be fully aware of her work.

With a song titled Rich Slave, it definitely catches attention quickly. This song is off of Young Dolph’s new album titled Rich Slave. Young Dolph titled this album Rich Slave to focus on the fact that he views himself and others within black culture as rich slaves. He is a boss in terms of how he makes his money independently as an artist, but he is aware that he stills spends his money on things that are owned by white establishments and business owners.

A song about women talking about wet pussy is breaking the internet. The lyrics focused on vivid sexual imagery and the pleasure of women. There were many things to unpack in the lyrics. Men can learn a lot about heterosexual attraction and taking care of a women through this song if they are open to it. An interesting topic of discussion has come from my friends and social circles over the last couple of months.

The visuals for this song were just dropped yesterday. Jorja Smith did an awesome job in this sweet rendition of a song. The song “By Any Means” is indicating how much Jorja wants to instill into people the importance of fighting towards social justice. The solution to liberation must come through any means.
